LUCANIA, Metapontion. Circa 470-440 BC. AR Nomos (19mm, 7.93 g, 12h). Dumpy incuse type. Ear of barley with six grains; grasshopper upward on left, retrograde META upward on right / Incuse ear of barley with seven grains; retrograde META in relief downward on left. Noe Class XII, 260 (same dies); HN Italy 1486. Lightly toned, a little porosity, trace deposits. Good VF. Very rare.
