SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 17.25 g, 5h). Struck circa 430-420 BC. Charioteer, holding [kentron in right hand] and reins in both, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying left, crowning charioteer with wreath held in both hands / Head of Arethousa right, hair in spiralling band, wearing double hoop earring and linear necklace; four dolphins around. Boehringer Series XXII, 680 (V339/R463); cf. SNG ANS 225/224 (for obv./rev. dies); McClean 2681 (same dies); BMC 119 (same obv. die); Weber 1592 (same obv. die). Lightly toned, trace deposits, flan flaw on obverse. VF.
