NORMAN. Henry I. 1100-1135. AR Penny (18mm, 1.32 g, 3h). Cross in Quatrefoil type (BMC ix). Bath mint; Ælfwine, moneyer. Struck circa 1109. Crowned and diademed facing bust, holding scepter; to right, star above quatrefoil / + ALFPINE : ON : BADA, short cross pattée within pointed quatrefoil; small quatrefoil in each quarter. EMC 2008.0205 = Allen, The Mints and Moneyers of England and Wales 1066-1158: Addenda and Corrigenda,” in BNJ (2016), p. 176, fig 18, a (this coin); Grinsell –; SCBI –; BMC –; North 865; SCBC 1270. Toned, tiny edge perforation and some light porosity on high points, official edge snick. Good VF. Very rare.
