Bareheaded, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Minerva standing left, holding spear set on ground to left and reversed spear. RIC IV 330; RSC 566. Attractive iridescent tone. Near EF. Charming portrait of the young Caesar.

Many of Caracalla’s adolescent portraits, such as this denarius of him as Caesar, depict him as a fresh-faced, innocent lad with no hint of the scowling megalomaniac he would ultimately grow into.
