Gordian III. AD 238-244. AR Antoninianus (22.5mm, 3.95 g, 11h). Rome mint, 3rd officina. 8th-11th emissions, late AD 240-early 243. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Laetitia standing left, holding wreath and anchor set on ground. RIC IV 86; RSC 121. Rich old cabinet tone over lustrous surfaces. Choice EF. A simply gorgeous example.

Silver antoniniani of Gordian III are undoubtedly common, but very few boast the combination of style, strike, surfaces and toning we see with this specimen.
