IONIA, Ephesos. Circa 405-390 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27.5mm, 15.19 g, 12h). Chian standard. Xeines, magistrate. Bee, with curved wings, seen from above; E-Φ flanking / Forepart of stag right, head left; palm tree to left, ΞEINHΣ to right. Hecatomnus p. 102, 2 var. (unlisted dies); otherwise unpublished with this magistrate. Toned, a little die rust on obverse. EF. Attractive early issue from the long series of bee/stag tetradrachms at Ephesos. Extremely rare, the second known with this magistrate.
