SELEUKID EMPIRE. Antiochos Hierax. Circa 242-227 BC. AR Tetradrachm (28mm, 16.99 g, 11h). Abydos or barbarous mint. Diademed head right, of “barbarous” style / BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANTIOXOY, Apollo, nude, testing arrow in his right hand, left hand holding tip of bow set on ground to right, seated left on omphalos adorned with geometric patter between horizontal bands; XE monogram and eagle standing left in exergue. SC 844a; Houghton, Lampsacus, Series 1, Group A, dies A3/P– (unlisted rev. die); WSM 1558 var. (monogram); HGC 9, 405b; CSE 651 (same dies). Lightly toned, a few minor scratches. EF.
