Laurate head of Apollo right / Homer seated left, resting chin on hand and holding scepter; ΘEOTIMOΣ and ΘE monogram to left. Milne, Autonomous, Perod X, 173; SNG Copenhagen –. Green-brown surfaces, roughness. VF.

This type is often referred to as a ‘Homereum,’ based on a passage in Strabo’s Geographica (xiv, i.37): “[T]he Smyrnaeans also lay especial claim to the poet [Homer] and indeed a bronze coin of theirs is called a Homereum.”
