THRACE, Byzantion. Circa 190-175 BC. AR Tetradrachm (35.5mm, 16.94 g, 12h). In the name and types of Lysimachos. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, arm resting on shield, transverse spear in background; monogram to inner left, BY on throne, ornamented trident in exergue. Marinescu Issue 104, 265.1 (O104/R256) = E. Boehringer, “Hellenistischer Münzschatz aus Trapezunt 1970” in SNR 54 (1975), 28 (this coin, illustrated in both references); Müller 189; HGC 3, 1400; Hunterian 44 (same obv. die). Deep iridescent tone, numerous hairlines, minor die break on reverse. Good VF.
