Facing figures of John, wearing loros, holding labarum and globus cruciger, and Christ, crowning John and holding Gospels / Crowned facing figures of Alexius and Irene, each wearing loros and holding between them a long patriarchal cross; Alexius also holding akakia. DOC 24; SB 1916. Dark brown patina, hairline flan crack, roughness. Fine. Very rare coronation issue struck on the occasion of John’s elevation.
