REPRODUCTIONS, SICILY. Naxos. Circa 430/20-415 BC. Cast “AR Tetradrachm” (27mm, 14.00 g, 2h). Derived from a British Museum electrotype. Bearded head of Dionysos right, wearing tainia decorated with an ivy branch / Silenos, nude and bearded, squatting half-left, holding up kantharos in right hand and resting his left hand on his knee, tail hanging to left below; large ivy vine with leaves to left, NAΞION to right. Cf. Head, Guide Period II C, 30; cf. GPCG pl 15, 49; Cahn 102/1, pl. V, 102 = BMC 19 (for prototype). Toned. As made.
