Description
BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 530-500 BC. AR Nomos (31mm, 8.08 g, 12h). Spread incuse type. Tripod, legs surmounted by wreaths and terminating in lion's feet, two serpents rising inward from feet, set on basis of three lines, the center dotted / Incuse tripod as obverse, but [serpents in relief]. Gorini 3 and p. 152–3 = Basel 194; Attianese 5; HN Italy 2075. Toned, with light golden hues, some light scratches, faint die bounce on obverse, die wear on reverse, minor edge chipping. Near EF.

An interesting specimen with a die bounce on the obverse - almost never seen and lends to our understanding of how these coins were struck.
