Description
KINGS of PARTHIA. Vologases II. AD 76/7-79. BI Tetradrachm (27mm, 12h). Seleukeia on the Tigris mint. Dated 389 SE (AD 78/9). Bust left, wearing tiara; B to right / Vologases seated left, receiving wreath from Tyche standing right, holding scepter; year above; month off flan. Cf. Sellwood 72.2 (for year); Sunrise 427 var. (letter); Shore –. In NGC encapsulation 4254287-007, graded XF. The NGC holder incorrectly identifies the coin as Vologases III. It is, in fact, Vologases II.
