REPRODUCTIONS, SELEUKID EMPIRE. Antiochos III ‘the Great’. 222-187 BC. Cast Gilt “AV Oktodrachm” (29mm, 14.55 g, 12h). Derived from an unsigned Münzkabinett Berlin electrotype. Diademed head right / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to right, ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ to right, Apollo seated left on omphalos, testing arrow held in his right hand and resting his left on bow set on ground; rose to left. Head, Guide –; GPCG –; cf. SC 1039 illustration (for prototype). Lightly toned, deposits, smoothing, edge marks. As made. Includes collector ticket noting pre-1970 purchase from Seaby.
