Struck circa 854-864. + CEOLNOÐ ΛRCHIEP–, tonsured and draped facing bust / + HEBE :· CΛ MO N E T Λ arranged on limbs of, and around, beaded cross. Ceolnoth, Archbishop of Canterbury (833-870) labored to protect the integrity and interests of the English Church in the clash between Mercia to Wessex. He would also be forced to deal with the destruction wrought by the Viking Great Army (865-878).
