CARIA, Stratonicaea. Caracalla, with Geta as Caesar. AD 198-217. Æ (34mm, 28.56 g, 6h). Damnatio Memoriae. Zosimos II, grandson of Posittos, prytanis. Struck under Septimius Severus, circa AD 198-202. [Bareheaded and draped bust of Geta] vis-à-vis laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla, seen from behind; c/m: laureate and draped bust of Caracalla right within circular incuse / Hecate standing facing, head left, wearing kalathos, holding patera and torch; at feet left, dog standing left, looking right. Cf. RPC V.2 Online 74040. For c/m: Howgego 84. Red-brown surfaces, porosity. Good Fine. Portrait of Geta erased, Caracalla’s damnatio memoriae of Geta applied after his murder in AD 211. Due to lack of legends, an exact reference number cannot be given. However, only Zosimos issued coins with Geta on the left.
