LEG V[...], Herakles standing facing, head left, holding uncertain object in right hand, leaning on club to left / Lion advancing right; above, star. Fox, Four –; RPC –. Unpublished.. Earthen green patina, cleaning scratches. Good Fine. Extremely rare.
A few of this type have come to market in the last couple of years, all attributed to LEG XV Apollinaris. However, the legends and legionary number are unclear on all of them. The lion would not be expected to be combined with Apollo, Herakles would be the more appropriate pairing.
