CILICIA, Tarsus. Pupienus. AD 238. Æ (35mm, 21.44 g, 6h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / At left, Athena standing left, holding spear and resting hand on grounded shield; at center, Tyche standing facing, head left, wearing kalathos, holding rudder and cornucopia; at right, Nemesis standing left, plucking chiton, holding bridle and cubit rule; at feet left, griffon, right forepaw on wheel. RPC VII.2 2969; BMC 247. Green patina with minor earthen red deposits, slight roughness. Near VF. Extremely rare, only two specimens known to RPC. This superior to both.
