Otho. AD 69. AR Denarius (17.5mm, 3.16 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck 15 January-8 March. IMP M OTHO CAESAR AVG TR P, bareheaded and draped bust right / SECVRI TAS P R, Securitas standing left, holding wreath and scepter. RIC I 8 var. (bust type); Muona Group 1, Type 4B, Portrait Type B draped; RSC 17 var. (same); cf. Calicó 532 (aureus; same dies as illustration); cf. CNG inventory 988901 (same dies). Deep iridescent toning, minor marks under tone. Good Fine. Extremely rare with draped bust right. Struck from dies initially used for an issue of aurei.
