MACEDON, Akanthos. Circa 430-390 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 13.41 g, 7h). Light ‘Thraco-Macedonian’ standard. Lion right, attacking bull crouching left, biting into its hindquarter; zig-zag line in exergue / Ethnic in shallow incuse around quadripartite square in relief, the quarters raised and granulated. Desneux –; HGC 3, 391. Toned, areas of roughness and pitting, minor double strike on reverse. Good VF.
